To put into words what Dr. Annemarie Colbin, Founder and President of the esteemed Natural Gourmet Institute, means to me is difficult. When I was diagnosed with cancer I was lost and wasn’t getting the advice I needed in order to personally get my health in order. Once I left the doctor’s office, it was like I was dropped in the middle of nowhere to navigate the unknown. That didn’t sit well with me and intuitively I entered the world of holistic nutrition and was led to her work. While there are many leaders in this field, there is only one who took the words of Hippocrates-the father of Medicine, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food“, and turned it into a school dedicated to teaching others to cook whole, plant-based, and health-supportive foods.

For nearly a year, I was one of only 15 students in the renowned Food Therapy program. On June 10th, I finally finish and to commemorate this event I am giving away signed copies to TWO lucky winners of her most acclaimed books, Food and Healing and The Whole Food Guide to Strong Bones. After a breast cancer diagnosis in 2008, Eileen became her own Self-Healthcare Activist. She is an Integrative Cancer Coach and works full-time helping patients do more than just survive at Columbia University’s Cancer Center in New York City.

    This was an interesting piece. Congratulations on nearly completing the most valuable, health inspiring class. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. This experience has made me reflect and reconsider learning more about nutrition and health. I’d like to participate in the book drawing. The healing process begins by what we put in our mouths and everything else will follows
