06 Sep Love Lists: The Alabama Project – The Terror of Breast Cancer While Negotiating the Silent Divides of Our Society

Fashion Photographer David Jay of The SCAR Project: Breast Cancer Is Not a Pink Ribbon recently completed a new project, titled The Alabama Project: Civil Rights In A New Era of HealthCare Challenges. Taken in the Deep South of Alabama, this is a series of large scale portraits of ordinary, yet exceptional women confronting the terror of breast cancer while negotiating the silent divides of our society.

Pictured in the first image is Brittney Bass who was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at just 24 years old. She is also a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. To learn more about her story and other women in this exhibit, click here.
