Latipha Cross is one phenomenal young woman. She is a survivor on so many levels. This champion runner was abandoned by her parents and physically abused by her foster parents.  Desperate and afraid, she left home and lived in a park. When she reconnected with her biological father he beat and raped her. Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, she was diagnosed with cancer TWICE, first a deadly form of melanoma and later lymphoma. This was all  before even graduating from high school. How does she respond? By taking her anger, struggles, and sadness to the track. Her assistant coach, Zack Glavach, credits her fitness regimen with the ability to overcome these immense challenges, he says “she basically ran herself into shape”. Latipha Cross is now in college on a full scholarship, studying to become a social worker and continues to run competitively.

Please share this video. Latipha’s story not only needs to go viral, it might also offer much-needed hope to someone in need.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
